As we countdown the final few days before Christmas, our team is going to share with you our favorite Christmas memory. Tonight, I will start out with mine. Christmas is my all time favorite holiday. If you ask my friends and family, I have ended up with the nickname of Mr. Christmas, as I start listening to Christmas music in October. Sometimes in September depending on the day.
In my family, we have had a long standing Christmas tradition, which I look forward to every year. In the last few years, we have actually added to this tradition, which all starts on December 23rd. On the 23rd, or as we call it in our family, Christmas Adam, since Adam came before Eve, we go out to eat as we spend most of the day baking Christmas cookies and fudge.
On Christmas Eve, our entire family, including my grandparents, aunts and uncles meet at Olive Garden to start the evening. We all then go to church and celebrate with a candlelight vigil. After church, we go to downtown Des Moines, and drive through Jolly Holiday lights. Which due to the flooding this year, has cancelled this great event. After driving through the lights, we go back over the river and through the woods to grandmas house to open gifts as a family while eating sweet treats!
After all of this, it is then back home very late to await for Santa’s arrival Christmas morning! This tradition has been going on for the last 19 years, and it is something I look forward to ever year. Christmas is a time to celebrate family, friends, and tradition. Enjoy your holidays and Merry Christmas!
