The Storm Prediction Center has issued a TORNADO WATCH for portions of northern and eastern Iowa until 1:00am. This tornado watch comes as thunderstorms continue to develop near the Mississippi River. A severe thunderstorm in the Dubuque area has already produced large hail and rainfall totals nearing 4”. As a result a Flash Flood Warning has also been issued for Dubuque County.
Overall this watch should not impact Iowa for too long as storms move off into portions of Wisconsin and Illinois. A tornado was reported earlier this evening near the Galena area. But additional storms are already developing further to the west in the Spencer area. As a result we will continue to monitor the severe weather threat here in Iowa as this situation unfolds through the evening and overnight hours.
