The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a Tornado Watch for a large portion of Nebraska. The watch will remain in effect until 8:00pm. Although this does not affect Iowa, strong storms could make their way into western portions of the state later this afternoon and into the evening hours.
Bands of thunderstorms are developing just northeast of a surface low now located over eastern Colorado. Tornadoes and large hail are the primary threats with any low-topped, fast moving supercells that develop within this storm system.
Again this watch does NOT affect any parts of Iowa, but we do expect storms to develop further east of this watch later this afternoon and evening.
