The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of northern Iowa this morning. This watch will remain in effect until 6:00pm. This watch includes more than a dozen counties in Iowa. You can see those counties in the graphic to the left.
Strong thunderstorms are beginning to move towards northwest Iowa this morning. These storms have a long history of producing large hail. Other than hail, strong winds and an isolated tornado are also possible later this afternoon. Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later today. All modes of severe weather are possible as these storms take shape over the next few hours.
