The Storm Prediction Center has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for far southeastern Iowa. You can see the area affected by this watch in the graphic to the left. This watch will remain in effect until midnight.
At this time, one or two complexes of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop, capable of producing strong damaging winds and some large hail. As we move into the evening hours, the primary threat in this area should shift to strong winds. Heavy rain is also a concern in this area as several thunderstorms could train over the same area over several hours.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation but at this time we’re not expected a widespread severe weather event here in Iowa. If this changes we’ll launch our live coverage if the conditions warrant.
