A pair of strong to severe lines of thunderstorms are nearing Iowa. As a result, the Storm Prediction Center has posted a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of western Iowa. This watch will remain in effect until 5am.
Storms are rapidly developing just SW of Iowa as a low level jet ramps up. Meanwhile, a line of severe thunderstorms in central Iowa is moving east towards Iowa. Both of these lines threaten to produce strong wind gusts and large hail over the next several hours.
We’ll continue to monitor this threat and, if needed, launch live overnight coverage of the severe weather threat.
