WXALERT: Advisory For Much of Western Iowa

advisoriesIt looks like snow will not be a problem here in Iowa this weekend, but that’s not the reason this advisory was posted.  In the graphic to the left, you can see the counties highlighted in blue now under a Winter Weather Advisory.  This advisory is in effect until 4pm Saturday Afternoon.

The National Weather Service decided to post this advisory not for snow, but for freezing drizzle.  This could produce some icy conditions on area roadways.  It’s something to keep in mind if you venture out today.

Otherwise, no major problems are expected this weekend as the snow should stay well to the north and west of Iowa.  Long range models continue to show a very quiet stretch of weather for the state with no major storms threatening the area.
