Another round of winter weather is headed our way tonight through Tuesday night, and warmer temperatures will mean a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow across the region. The heaviest precipitation is expected from midnight tonight through midnight Tuesday night, with a potential of both light icing along with some accumulating snow.
Any ice accumulations would occur after midnight and before 7am Tuesday. Any ice accumulations would be very light, less than a tenth of an inch. Temperatures will warm a few degrees, which will transition precipitation to rain. Some light snow will also be possible, but accumulations will stay confined to Minnesota, and northwest Iowa.
The precipitation type in this event will be highly dependent on temperatures, and variations of just a degree or two could greatly alter the potential ice and snow amounts.
