Winter Weather to Affect Portions of Central and Northern Iowa into Tuesday

A mixture of precipitation is expected in northern Iowa this afternoon transitioning to all snow by late afternoon. This snow will diminish this evening, although another round will move into northwest and west central Iowa by later this evening and persist into Tuesday. Strong winds will also produce some blowing snow.

A winter weather advisory has been expanded to now include most of northern Iowa from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon. Total snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 inches to 3 to 5 inches are expected. Strong northwest winds will develop overnight into Tuesday with areas of blowing snow, especially in the heavier snow squalls.

Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute on Tuesday. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times. A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
