Winter Weather Advisory 1/8

A winter weather advisory in effect until 6am Saturday. Light snow and a light wintry mix will push east across the area throughout the overnight, causing hazardous travel conditions.

Storm total snow/ice accumulations, less than half an inch. Winds will be from the northwest at 15 mph with gusts to 25 or 30mph.

Cold temperatures will allow precipitation to freeze on roadways and walkways, creating icy conditions. Travel will become hazardous tonight, with multiple accidents already reported across northern Iowa due to poor road conditions.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties as roadways become slick and icy. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
