A winter storm watch will be in effect for Friday and Friday night. This is because 4″ to 7″ of snow will be possible in the watch box as well as gusty winds which will reduce visibility below a half mile.

Timing: Snow is expected to begin falling mid to late morning Friday across northwest Iowa and will continue to move east through Friday afternoon. Snow should diminish from west to east Friday night. Gusty north winds will continue into Saturday morning.

Amounts: Snowfall accumulations will be the heaviest between highway 20 and highway 30. This is where 4″ to 7″ of snow will be possible. Depending on the track of the storm, this could shift north or south and will be better tuned as we get closer to Friday morning.
