Snow will spread across northern Iowa mainly Sunday afternoon, and will persist through the night, before tapering off by early Monday afternoon. Moderate to heavy accumulations are expected.
A push of higher snowfall rates with moderate to even heavy snow can be expected from mid afternoon through the evening hours. Lighter snow will then persist through the remainder of the night into early Monday.
A winter storm warning will be in effect from 1pm Sunday through 1pm Monday. This is where 6 to 9 inches of snow will be possible. Southeast winds of 10 to 20-mph Sunday afternoon, will shift to the north and increase a bit late Sunday into Monday as the snow is ending. Visibility will be reduced as snow is falling, possibly to less than a half a mile during periods of heavier snowfall.
A winter weather advisory will also be in effect from 1pm Sunday afternoon to 1pm Monday. This is where snowfall accumulations of 4 to 6 inches will be possible. Strong winds will also reduce visibilities below a mile at times.
