Snow will spread across the area on Sunday afternoon and evening, persisting through the night before ending on Monday. Moderate to heavy accumulations are expected. Some uncertainty does remain with this storm. There will be an initial push of moderate to even heavy snow from mid afternoon to mid evening.
Lighter snow will then persist through the remainder of the night. Should snow amounts with the initial surge be lighter than expected, snow amounts would be lighter than current forecasts.
Snowfall accumulations of 5 to 9 inches is expected. Southeast winds of 10 to 15-mph Sunday and Sunday night will shift to north and increase a bit on Monday as the snow is ending. Visibility will be reduced as snow is falling, possibly less than half a mile during periods of heavier snowfall.
Travel may be hazardous due to snow covered/icy roads and periods of reduced visibilities. Continue to follow the Iowa Storm Chasing Network for the latest forecasts.
