Today was a nice day, however, tomorrow will be even better. Tomorrow winds will be out of the southwest, and this will allow temperatures to warm up into the mid 50s to lower 60s. Winds will be gusty tomorrow, but this will allow temperatures to warm up nicely.
Winds will be gusting up to 40mph, but there is the possibility that winds may meet advisory criteria. On top of this, relative humidity will be low tomorrow. Combined this with the strong winds, and this will provide an enhanced fire risk.
A fire weather watch has been issued from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. Any fires that start may spread rapidly due to the low relative humidity, dry fuels, and very strong winds. There is a chance for light rain across northern Iowa during the afternoon Wednesday, however, this rain will be very light.
Wednesday night, a low pressure system will slide across to our north, across the Minnesota/Iowa border. A cold front will be draped to the south of this low. Winds will switch out of the northwest on Thursday and this will have an impact on our temperatures Thursday. Light rain is also possible on Thursday, mainly across the southern half of Iowa. As always, we will post the very latest updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and right here at Iowachase.com.
