Iowa Wind Advisory 2/8/2016

A wind advisory will be in effect through noon Monday. The strongest winds should occur from mid day Sunday through early Sunday evening. Windy conditions will continue through all of Sunday night.

Sustained wind speeds between 25 and 35-mph are possible, with gusts to 50-mph or greater from mid morning Sunday to early Sunday evening. The winds will decrease slightly Sunday night, but will still rage between 25 and 40-mph.

Brief snow showers may also impact the advisory area late Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Accumulations up to one half inch will be possible and may lead to lower visibility and minor travel difficulties into Monday morning. Winds may also lead to blowing snow.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39-mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57-mph. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.
