We hope you enjoyed your last day of meteorological summer. Highs around the state today ranged from the upper to lower 80’s, with a few 90 degree readings. However, the humidity made it feel even warmer. But the question of will this summer like heat carry on over into September is now at the center of attention. Today the Climate Prediction Center released the new monthly temperature outlook for September. They are forecasting that temperatures in the month of September will be slightly above average. The monthly average for September ranges from the mid to lower 70’s.
One thing you might have notice is the lack of rain in the week ahead. However, according to the Climate Prediction Center, September will be above average with rainfall. Average rainfall for the month of September is roughly 3″ to 4″ across the state. This increase in average rainfall, and above average temperatures may be a sign that a few more severe weather chances might be possible. To note, we typically do see a few severe weather setups as the seasons change, but with above average temperatures, a couple more than normal severe weather setups might be possible.
If you like the heat, enjoy it while it lasts as winter will be here before you know it!
