Two different storm systems will affect Iowa in the coming days. The first is the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine. No major problems are expected but another storm system from the west will begin affecting parts of Iowa on Friday. The Storm Prediction Center has posted a slight risk for portions of southwest Iowa. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Friday Afternoon, some of which could produce strong winds and large hail.
There could be a secondary threat of heavy rainfall, but no major flooding issues are expected. Showers may linger into Saturday Morning, but should subside quickly giving Iowa a relatively dry weekend.
Another bit of good news is a ongoing trend of below normal temperatures. Days here in Iowa should remain pleasant and nights comfortable for sleeping. All in all a good start to the month of September.
