Isolated showers and thunderstorms have managed to pop up in parts of northern Iowa. Although strong at times, there are no indications these storms are reaching severe limits. The image to the left was a radar image from southern Minnesota just after 4 this morning.
Despite some development during the early morning hours, the Storm Prediction Center does not anticipate issuing any kind of watch because of these storms. Although a brief wind gust and some small hail is possible, no organized severe weather is expected to take shape this morning across Iowa.
We’ll take a closer look at the severe threat in extreme northern Iowa later today, and much of central and eastern Iowa tomorrow later today.
