Very Cold Wind Chills Tonight Over North Central Iowa

Wind Chill Advisory

An arctic cold front will move through the area tonight, and bring another push of very cold air to the state. The boundary will also bring breezy northwest winds that will persist through Tuesday morning. The combination of the cold temperatures and the wind will drop wind chill values to 20 below zero or less.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect from midnight tonight through 9am CST Tuesday. Temperatures will fall to near 5 below zero tonight, and combined with the wind will produce wind chill values of 20 to 25 below zero.

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and wind will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves and other appropriate clothing.
