An outbreak of severe storms including large hail, strong winds, and tornadoes is possible this Sunday in western and central Iowa. The storm prediction center has issued a slight risk for severe weather on Saturday for western Iowa. The main threat on Saturday will be large hail. Most of the storms will occur after 6pm Saturday through the overnight hours. The greatest chance for severe weather will be on Sunday.
The SPC has highlighted an area across southwest Iowa with the greatest potential for severe weather. An outbreak of severe storms will be possible on Sunday across the central states with large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. One concern that we mentioned yesterday, will be the ongoing convection Sunday morning, as this may tend to limit a greater severe risk. However, it does appear that all three modes of severe weather will be possible. You will want to keep an eye to the skies this weekend, especially if you are spending time outdoors. Our chase team will be out in the field providing LIVE video all weekend. Look for further updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and right here at Iowachase.com.
