In the final severe weather outlook of the day, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk for portions of eastern Iowa. This new development comes as showers and thunderstorms have fired up in central Iowa just as the sun was setting.
The primary threat from these storms tonight will be large hail capable of producing damage. At this time it appears unlikely we will see any tornadoes or even strong wind gusts. Even so, these storms can turn dangerous and need to be closely monitored. We’ll continue to watch tonight’s developments and bring you updates when needed.
