Strong Winds Through Monday

Wind Advisory Iowa

A strong low pressure in South Dakota has been increasing east/southeast winds across northern Iowa this afternoon. Winds will remain strong this evening from the east/southeast, and then late tonight another push of strong winds will occur from the southwest. By early Monday morning, a third episode of strong westerly winds will occur. Wind gusts of up to 45-mph will occur this afternoon and early evening, with gusts possibly over 50-mph late tonight and Monday over far northern Iowa.

Strong winds will arrive between 4 a.m and 7 a.m. Monday morning, and will remain strong much of Monday. West winds will increase to 25 to 35-mph with gusts of 45 to 50-mph on Monday. A wind advisory will be in effect through 6pm Monday.

Travelers in high profile vehicles will be affected through the event. Loose objects may blow around or become airborne resulting in damage to property or injury.

A wind advisory means that winds of 35-mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
