STRONG WINDS EXPECTED

A storm system over southeast Iowa will continue to lift to the northeast through early evening. Strong northerly winds on the backside of this system will move across the area through the remainder of the afternoon. Expect sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30mph with gusts between 30 and 40mph. In addition, colder air spilling into the area will change the rain to snow or a rain/snow mix. Snow may accumulate on grassy areas by roadways will be wet to slushy. Use extra caution during the evening commute. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.
