Strong Winds Expected Today 12/29

The surface pressure gradient will tighten up from late morning into the afternoon. Along with this, good mixing in the lower atmosphere occur through the morning allowing for wind speeds of 30-mph or more sustained with the potential for a few gusts of 40-mph or greater. Winds will subside by sunset and continue to trail off overnight as high pressure builds in.

A wind advisory will be in effect through 5pm this afternoon. A wind advisory means that winds of 35-mph are expected. Wind this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
