Strong Winds Cause Tree to Fall on Sioux City Home

Sioux City Iowa Tree Down

Strong winds that accompanied the first snowfall of the year across northwest Iowa, knocked down power lines, and more than 2,500 Sioux City customers of MidAmerican Energy were without power late Friday morning.

A home in the 3300 block of County Club Boulevard in Sioux City, Iowa suffered severe damage after a large maple tree branch fell onto the home. The roof is caved in and the siding on the south side of the house is torn off. Officials say about one-third of the structure is destroyed.

Sioux City Fire Rescue says no wires or gas lines are broken inside the home. The home owners were at work and the rest of the family is out of town.
