The potential for strong to severe storms still appears likely during the late afternoon and evening hours Wednesday. A surface low will move through the state Wednesday afternoon, which will trigger off a line of thunderstorms.

Temperatures on Wednesday will be warming into 60’s to near 70, but thick cloud cover may inhibit destabilization. This will greatly impact the severe weather threat on Wednesday. As of now, the main threats of severe weather would be damaging wind gusts and large hail.

Storms will form near the Iowa/Nebraska border late in the afternoon Wednesday and will advance off to the east. Because of this threat, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed much of the state under a slight risk of severe weather Wednesday.
