Strong to Severe Storms Possible This Afternoon

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms with wind damage and isolated large hail are forecast this afternoon and evening for parts of the southern and central plains, extending northeastward into the middle Missouri Valley.  Storms will initiate across western Iowa ahead of an advancing cold front, after 1pm. Storms will become linear, as they push to the east, which will keep the primary threat as damaging wind gusts. Heavy rain will also be a potential as these storms will be moving slowly across western Iowa.
