A wide area of the United States faces the threat of severe weather today as a storm system that has lingered in the area for days begins to move east. Take a look at the graphic below to see the area that could see strong storms today.
As you can see, the primary risk area lies in Oklahoma. This moderate risk in red is the area where widespread severe weather is expected along a dryline that stretches south from the storm center.
The primary threat in this moderate risk area is large hail. Damaging winds and tornadoes will also be popular.
The graphic above shows today’s tornado threat. It’s a very broad but general area that includes portions of southern Iowa. Our chase team will be out tracking today’s threat with the possibilities of multiple tornadoes throughout this area, possibly including Iowa.
