Storms Likely Saturday 10/21

A strong cold front will move through the state on Saturday, triggering off a line of showers and thunderstorms by Saturday afternoon. Leading up to Saturday, temperatures will be above average. Highs through Friday will be in the 70’s, so enjoy it while it lasts as temperatures will be much cooler next week behind the cold front.

At this time, there is a marginal chance that a few of the storms on Saturday will be strong to severe. The primary threats appear to be large hail and damaging wind gusts, but with it still being a few days out, much can still change between now and Saturday.

Iowa Rainfall forecast

What does look to be likely is a decent amount of rain. Current forecast has over a half inch of rain falling across much of the state, with some areas possibly receiving more than an inch. After the cold front pulls out of the state and the rain comes to an end, highs next week will be in the 50’s to 60’s.
