After a few rounds of severe weather primarily to the north, it looks like the southern half of the state is in the crosshairs for today’s threat. The Storm Prediction Center has posted a slight risk for most of the state today, but the greatest risk lies in areas along and south of Highway 30.
This morning, showers and thunderstorms are ongoing across much of Iowa, but stronger storms are expected to take shape later this afternoon and into the evening hours. All modes of severe weather are possible, but once storms become better organized into a larger system the greatest threat will shift to a strong damaging wind event.
We will do our best to provide you with live coverage again tonight of the storms, I am currently fighting a severe eye infection and am working to get my vision back (so forgive me if my squinting missed a typo or two in this post). If all goes well tonight we’ll get things up and running when/if needed tonight.
