Solar Storm to Hit Earth Tuesday

A CIR is in progress this morning and the effects of which have aurora potential reaching areas as far south as Iowa tonight. However, because it hit so early in the day, we are still waiting to see if conditions will hold until tonight. The Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), still has a G2 Watch issued which means levels could reach Kp 6. Hope for clear skies and persistent solar storm conditions to continue through tonight!

To prepare for the impending solar storm, check out the Aurora Notifier. It monitors real-time solar data and will place an automated phone call alert to you once your solar weather parameters have been met. This way you can setup alerts based on the strength of an aurora needed in your location. If the free email alerts aren’t enough to wake you up in the middle of the night, this surely will! You can even add the phone number to your “Favorites” list so that your phone will still ring even when placed on silent.
