Slight Risk Severe Weather Saturday 7/23

Scattered severe storms will be possible across the upper Midwest today into this evening. Damaging wind and large hail will be the main threats. Other strong storms with a threat for mainly downburst winds are expected today from eastern New York into New England.

Some thunderstorms will be possible across northern Iowa early Saturday morning, and will dissipate by mid morning. The atmosphere will quickly recover before a cold front moves into northwest Iowa by late afternoon. Storms will be linear, which is why the main threats will be damaging winds and large hail.
