Significant Winter Storm Monday

If you will be traveling this weekend, and on into early next week, you will want to be monitoring the weather very closely. A large storm system will be tracking off to the northeast across Missouri on Sunday, which will lead to the potential for freezing rain, sleet and heavy snow.

The track of the system still remains the largest uncertainty this afternoon. Both the GFS, NAM and ECMWF are starting to take a similar track, but the ECMWF brings a more prolonged period of freezing rain and sleet, whereas the GFS keeps most of the precipitation as snow.

Snowfall totals at this current time appear to be in the moderate to heavy range. Due to the uncertainties in the track, we will refrain from showing numbers. There is much to watch as we head into the weekend so continue to check back here for the latest updates.
