After a relatively tranquil weekend, some showers return to the picture Sunday. But the big questions surround the next storm system moving through Iowa on Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center is highlighting the entire state under a slight risk for Tuesday.
As is usually the case for summer storm systems, the biggest question will be timing of the storms and a potential cap that could prevent storms from developing until later in the evening on Tuesday.
Strong storms are also possible for portions of western Iowa on Monday. Storms expected to develop in the Dakotas will likely spread southeast into the western portions of the state. If this happens, we’ll of course have to monitor the effects of that rain and cloudiness on the severe threat for Tuesday.
Of course there’s plenty that can change between now and Tuesday so, as always, check back for updates as new outlooks are issued tomorrow.
