Severe weather may be back in our forecast by Thursday. After record breaking temperatures starting off this week, colder temperatures will be returning and that may spark off some strong to severe storms. There still remains some uncertainty with just how strong these storms may become Thursday afternoon, but if things align correctly, a few storms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds.
On Thursday, temperatures will warm up into the mid to upper 60’s, with dew points in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. This will provide enough instability for storms to develop in the afternoon. The timing of the cold front will be the key ingredient to who may see these strong to severe storms. For now, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk of severe weather for the southeastern half of the state. There is the possibility if things align better, that this may be upgraded to a slight risk. We will be keeping an eye on this possibility, but for now, get outdoors and enjoy the unseasonable weather!
