Iowa Severe Weather Outlook July Monday

A cold front will move east from eastern portions of the Dakotas into the Midwest and upper Midwest region Monday afternoon and night. Strong instability and ample vertical wind shear will be in place, and large-scale forcing for ascent and convergence along the front should result in severe thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and spreading northeast Monday night. Although supercells will be possible given the magnitude of deep-layer shear, frontal forcing should result in a linear mode with time.
