Here’s something we haven’t seen in a while, a threat for severe weather. Fortunately this threat appears minor and the bigger hope is that any storms that develop this afternoon or evening could bring much needed rainfall with it.
But as for the severe weather, large hail and strong wind gusts are the primary threat. This does not appear to be the most organized threat. Instead, we’re expecting some heating of the day development later this afternoon and into the evening hours. These storms, once they develop, will have a chance of becoming a little better organized and merging into a complex of showers and thunderstorms over portions of the state.
Again, no widespread severe weather is expected this evening, but there is hope that if storms can organize themselves, a good portion of the state could get the rain it so desperately needs. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates throughout the day. Remember, you can track the storms day or night by visiting our radar page.
