After a rainy start to the week, the past few days have been a much needed relief. This has allowed a lot of the water to recede, and the ground to dry up. However, this break will be coming to an end, as an active weather period returns to our forecast beginning Saturday.
Saturday will start off dry, as most of the afternoon will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will warm into the mid 80’s to lower 90’s. Dew point temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60’s which will aid in storm development Saturday late afternoon into evening.
Storms will develop across western Iowa after 5pm Saturday. These storms will then track off to the east/southeast throughout the evening. Main risks will be large hail and damaging winds. Storms will then clear out of the state by Sunday morning. A few of these storms Saturday evening may track over the same locations, which will result in heavy rainfall totals, mainly across western Iowa. Looking ahead to next week, things appear to remain active.
