Rounds of Rain Expected to Produce Little Threat

Untitled A rainy morning across eastern Iowa is only the beginning of our rain chances this week.  Several chances, especially late in the week and into the weekend, will persist over the region.  At this time, the overall severe threat for any of these storms systems is low.

Our most promising shot of strong storms will likely come late in the day on Friday.  As a low pushes off to the north and east of Iowa, a strong cold front is forecast to move through the state.  With enough moisture and instability, this system could produce an MCS that could bring a bit of stormy weather to eastern Iowa.

Again, these chances are low and the best guess is we will see general showers and thunderstorms.  On the temperature front, things will gradually warm up during the week but again, this weekend, temperatures will dip back below normal.

Not much to say about this summer’s unusually cold pattern.  The impact of our weather in the mid to long-term forecasts remains to be seen, admittedly I don’t believe I’ve seen anything like this before.
