After weakening below tropical storm strength, Igor has regained its name and is expected to continue its growth. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center report Tropical Storm Igor should become a major hurricane by sometime next week. The storm is moving very slowly and is still more than a week away from any major land masses.
At this time it’s unclear whether the storm will threaten any parts of the United States, but it’s something to certainly keep close watch on by this time next week and beyond. At this time Igor is the only tropical system in the Atlantic, but forecasters are monitoring an area west of the storm for new development.
