The Storm Prediction Center has maintained its slight risk for severe weather over much of Iowa today. But as expected, ongoing showers and thunderstorms this morning is playing a big role in limiting that threat.
Remnants of a storm complex which developed west of Iowa yesterday are moving across the state this morning. Along with is comes plenty of cloud cover that is preventing strong destabilization of the atmosphere. It’s possible some of these showers and thunderstorms could re-intensify later this afternoon, but no organized severe weather outbreaks are expected.
The greater risk of strong storms today lies well to the south of Iowa, over portions of Missouri. Nevertheless there is a threat of strong storms today and if the weather warrants, we’ll pass along the latest information to you here along with live coverage if needed.
