Proposed Changes

Iowa_co_lines1This morning we told you about a new way that we would be forecasting. We had noticed a few of you were confused by the way we described the state. This morning we showed a map that had 9 zones, however, we have changed the southern third of the state a bit to include some more counties in southwest Iowa. Before Union, and Ringgold counties were not included in southwest Iowa. They will now be included in the southwest Iowa zone.

Another thing that we had noticed from this morning, a few of you thought we would be using the zone and number terminology in our write ups. This is NOT the case. We will be using more descriptive wording. For example, if there is a chance for snow in zone 7 and rain in zone 8, we will say, snow  will be likely in southwest Iowa with rain in south central Iowa. Each zone describes a location, and this location will be described in our forecast. The list of terminology that we will use in our write ups is as followed.

Zone 1: Northwest Iowa
Zone 2: North Central Iowa
Zone 3: Northeast Iowa
Zone 4: West central  Iowa
Zone 5: Central Iowa
Zone 6: East Central Iowa
Zone 7: Southwest Iowa
Zone 8: South Central Iowa
Zone 9: Southeast Iowa
