Preparing to Activate the Network

While we have been keeping a close eye on the coming storm system that, already tonight, affected parts of extreme western Iowa, I wanted to take a moment to welcome all our new fans and discuss what we here at the Iowa Storm Chasing Network strive to do.

Over the next couple of days, you are going to see a lot of posts from our team.  We’ll be tracking the threat as it creeps closer to Iowa beginning on Thursday and potentially running all the way into early Saturday morning.  First off, you are going to continue to see us update the threat for severe weather at least twice a day every day beginning tomorrow.  We will also bring you up to the minute information on any potential watches that could be issued as the storms develop.

We will do our best to keep up with all the warnings as we go, and bring you occasional radar updates.  But we will be focused on the chase as well.  And we will do our best to utilize our team’s talents to provide you with photos and live video from the field.  One thing that we truly rely on is all of you, our fans.  During severe weather events, the interaction with our fans amazes us every time.  If you see storms, or damage (from a safe position) we always want you to share it with us.  And remember in the days ahead you can do just that by emailing your pics to [email protected]  The pics we receive from our fans will be posted on our Facebook page and shared with our media partners at KCCI-TV in Des Moines and KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids.

Again, very busy times are ahead for the rest of the week and we’ll be right there to bring you want you need to know and show you what you want to see.  Everyone stay aware, and stay safe!  Now let’s go get some storms!
