The National Weather Service in Des Moines will send survey teams out to southwest Iowa to investigate tornado damage in and near the towns of Sharpsburg and Lenox. Lenox appears to be the hardest hit after a tornado touched down in the middle of town.
Early estimates from local officials are that 45 percent of the towns trees and structures were damage by the tornado. So far no report of any serious injuries which is the best news to report. But of course the damage has left many residents with a lot to clean up and recover from.
We’ll watch out for a report from the National Weather Service today or tomorrow and let you know what they find after their surveys are completed.
