Not a whole lot of severe weather in the area Friday. But did get a bit of a jolt while shooting some storm footage. Take a look at the video to the left. Just as I was cleaning off my lens a sudden bright flash blinded me and moments later an extremely loud clap of thunder followed.
I can certainly tell you the tape does not do it justice. My ears were ringing for a bit after this. But fortunately I wasn’t struck. As for the rest of eastern Iowa, not much damage to report except for a number of planes tossed around at the Dubuque Airport.
It’s likely the National Weather Service will investigate that damage report, which might have been caused by a downdraft or microburst.
