Did you enjoy the weather today? Temperatures ranged from the lower to upper 80s. This afternoon, storms developed across northern Iowa due to the heating of the day. These storms pulse up during the peak heating of the day and quickly dissipate as evening sets in. This round of storms this afternoon, was the first of many chances ahead over the next 72 hours.
There will be another chance of rain early Tuesday morning across western Iowa, otherwise Tuesday will be a partly sunny day with highs in the mid to lower 80s. The next chance of rain, will then build into the state from the west Tuesday evening. This will be the best chance for widespread rain, and a good soaking one. Rain will move in late Tuesday night and will last throughout the day Wednesday. Because of the the rain and cloud cover on Wednesday, highs will only be in the 70s. Rain will continue to be in the forecast Wednesday night and Thursday, before an area of high pressure builds into the state by Friday.
After all said and done, 1 to 3 inches of rain will be possible across the state. The heaviest rainfall totals will be across western and central Iowa. One of the positives with this rainfall is it will fall over a few days, instead of all at once. We will then dry out for the weekend with cooler temperatures ahead.
