There will be multiple rounds of snow through Monday evening, each providing the opportunity to see a few inches. The first system will begin dropping light snow across northwest Iowa as early as 8am Saturday. Snow will continue to spread to the east-southeast throughout the day. The greatest snow accumulations will be north of highway 20. This is where 2 to 5 inches of snow will be possible. Between highway 20 and 30, snowfall totals will rapidly drop off.
More light snow will then be possible on Sunday into Sunday night. This system appears to target along and south of interstate 80. One of the models is even further south than this, where the system would stay into northern Missouri. Additional snowfall from this round would remain light, with a general 1 to 2 inches by Sunday night.
Another system will move through the area Monday night into Tuesday. This will bring another bout of light snow to much of the state. The snow will be very fluffy, so blowing snow may be an issue with this system, as winds will be strong. This system we will continue to monitor as the models differ on snowfall totals.
