As expected, the models continue to show a rather impressive storm system moving through the upper Midwest on Wednesday. But the potential for a chase in eastern Iowa is low because both the timing and track do not favor our area.
Bottom line is that the system will move through the area too early on Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center also noticed this and pushed the highest risk for severe weather to our east. Does this mean we’re out of the woods? Absolutely not. The system could stall just a few hours, putting the target area a little closer to our area.
But I have to admit, the likelihood of that in my opinion in small. Forecast models thus far have done a good job of nailing down approximate areas for severe thunderstorm development. We will of course continue to monitor the situation and also another storm system progged to make its way through Iowa this weekend. In the meantime enjoy the gorgeous weather today (after a chilly morning).
