Little Storms with the Right Ingredients

Funnel captured in Boone County, IL on Monday, July 12, 2010

Take a look at this video from northern Illinois.  Showers and thunderstorms that developed there this afternoon didn’t look too strong, but they had a lot of atmospheric support.  The nearly stationary storms produced numerous funnel clouds and a brief tornado.  Heavy rains and flash flooding caused some problems across eastern Iowa today, but the rain is gone for now.  Looking towards the rest of the week, still on track to see a threat of severe weather on Wednesday.  More on that tomorrow morning.
