Iowa Forecast Snowfall

More snow is back in the forecast. After dealing with 50 to 60-mph wind gusts on Monday, which closed a portion of interstate 35, and created whiteout conditions, Wednesday’s snow will be no where comparable to Monday. Light snow will begin to spread over northwest Iowa during the morning hours of Wednesday and will continue to slide off to the southeast. Snowfall will be very light as there is not a whole lot of precipitation to work with in this quick moving shortwave.

Snowfall accumulations will generally be less than an inch, but the potential for a narrow band of and inch to an inch and a half is possible. Winds will not be an issue on Wednesday. Winds will be out of the north/northwest at 5 to 10-mph, and will become light by the afternoon Wednesday. Wind chills on Wednesday will be just above zero, unlike today where many locations were below zero. Another light snow chance will be possible Friday night into Saturday.
